The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas will host a blood drive from 7am-7pm at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital located at 1200 North Elm St. Greensboro, NC 27401. You have to weigh at least 120 pounds to donate blood. For blood donations that are made during the month of March & April, CBCC will make contributions to the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte to help provide free night stays for out-of-town families with children in the hospitals. April 22th: Empty Bowls
The Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC's Empty Bowls luncheon will take place on April 22th from 11-2pm at The Millennium Center. A tasty soup lunch, gorgeous handcrafted andf painted pottery bowls and a fabulous silent auction will be available at the luncheon. The proceeds will go to special meal programs for children and critical nutritional supportfor our neighbors in need. April 25th: Piedmont Earth Day Fair
Experience the Power of Bright Ideas at the 10th Annual Piedmont Earth Day Fair. This free community event features interactive children’s activities, environmental demonstrations and live entertainment throughout the day. May 2nd: CVMA Veterans Benefit Ride
The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association will hold its annual benefit ride on Saturday, May 2nd. Registration begins at 10am at Crossroads Harley Davidson of N. Wilkesboro. The ride will begin at 12 noon, and proceed to River City Bar & Grill at Lake Norman. A silent and live auction will be held, as well as a 50/50 raffle, and live music from National Recording Artist Rockie Lynne. All proceeds go to help veterans in need. May 2nd: Make a Wish Kentucky Derby Classic
Make-A-Wish® Central & Western North Carolina would like to invite you to be a partner in our mission and attend the 2015 Kentucky Derby Classic to take place on Saturday, May 2 at the High Caliber Stables 8506 Cedar Hollow Road in Greensboro, NC.
The afternoon encompasses all things Kentucky Derby with traditional Mint Juleps, beer/wine bar, food, a horse-show by the HCS Hotshots, a Hat Contest, “betting”, auctions, and of course a live feed of the Kentucky Derby as the excitement happens at Churchill Downs.
Most importantly, the Kentucky Derby Classic is an afternoon of charitable giving to fund the mission of Make-A-Wish.

The North Carolina Quarter Horse Association will have its No Bling Circuit held at the Piedmont Saddle Club at 801 Leaviurne Road in Colfax, NC. There will be two clinics, one at 8:45am and the other at 9:45am.This event is a sanctioned show that is designed for youth and amateur competitors prepare for participation at the larger AQHA (American Quarter Horse Association) Shows. 2015 Rabies Clinics Guilford County
North Carolina law requires that all domestic pets (cats, dogs and ferrets), whether living inside or outside, age four months or older be vaccinated. Even animals that are confined in outdoor fenced areas should have current rabies vaccinations, because wild animals can get into these areas and attack your pets.
Rabies continues to circulate within our wildlife population. The best way to protect your family and your pet’s safety is to vaccinate your pets against rabies. Guilford County Animal Control is offering low-cost rabies vaccination clinics at the following locations and times:
