Every Saturday: 16 Cents Ministry Church Under the Bridge
The 16 Cents Ministry Church Under the Bridge will be held on Saturday, April 19th, from 6-7pm under the bridge at 300 Spring Garden Street in Greensboro. The event brings together Greensboro's poor, homeless, passer-by, college students, and anyone who wants to worship Christ with fellow christian brothers and sisters. A meal is served, and clothing, hygiene items, blankets, jackets, any type of nonperishable foods are handed out, as well as other needs being met. Guilford County Rabies Clinics
The Animal Control Program of the Guilford County Department of Public Health is updating its low cost animal rabies vaccination clinic schedule for 2014. North Carolina law requires that all domestic pets, whether living inside or outside, age four months or older must be vaccinated against rabies. The rabies vaccination will be five dollars ($5.00) per shot. Cash and personal checks will be accepted. Clinics are scheduled at the following locations:

April 26th: Surry County Autism Walk
NC Autism Society's Surry County Chapter is having our annual walk, on Saturday, April 26th, at Riverside Park, in Mt. Airy. Registration begins at 8 with the kickoff, at 9am. 100% of funding raised, supports continuing education, support, school supplies, medical needs, etc for our group members and their families. April 27th: Kids' Fun Day
Please join us for the ‘Shalonda's Poole's Kids Fun Day’ on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at the park named in her honor near the Warnersville Recreational Center, 601 Doak Street in Greensboro.The day will be filled with activities for the young and the young-at-heart. Join us for fun snacks, games, face painting, tour of The Shalonda Poole Park and Kick-ball at 2:00pm – 6:00pm. Set-up time 12:30pm... We are accepting monetary gifts and in-kind donations for activities, decorations and "goodies bags" for 100 school age youth. The budget is $500.00

May 3rd: Undy 5000
The Undy 5000 is a family-friendly 5K run/walk that was created by the Colon Cancer Alliance. It is unique because participants are encouraged to run in their boxers to bring attention to the area affected by colon cancer. The Triad event will be held on Saturday, May 3rd in Old Salem in Winston-Salem. Teams and individuals are welcome! Toy Drive to benefit Kids of Childhood Cancer
The Kids of Childhood Cancer Foundation, founded Sarah and Charlie DiGerolamo, provides relief through various means - financial assistance, activities for the children, respite trips to the foundation’s Topsail Beach condo, and toys! Named in memory of the DiGerolamo’s son, Vinny’s Toy Box is a cabinet filled with toys that provide much needed distractions for children while they’re receiving cancer treatments.
Throughout the month of April, ma Cares is holding a toy drive to assist in stocking the toy box. Donations of new, unused toys may be dropped off at Build-a-Bear or Toys & Co. both located in Friendly Center (3110 Kathleen Avenue Greensboro, NC 27408) or between the hours of 9 and 5, Monday through Friday at Market America (1302 Pleasant Ridge Road Greensboro, NC 27409).
Additionally we will collect toys on Saturday, May 3rd from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. outside Walmart on 3738 Battleground Ave, Greensboro, NC 27410.
May 3rd: Memorial Ride for Allison Hunt
The Memorial Ride for Allison Hunt takes place on Saturday, May 3rd, at Ledford High School. Allison had a rare lung disease called Bronchiolitis Obliterans. Allison was fortunate to receive a double lung transplant however, she developed a virus that her body was unable to fight and she passed away July 18, 2011 at the age of 16. Allison would have graduated from Ledford this past year with the class of 2013. Family and friends choose to remember Allison by raising money for scholarships for Ledford High. The $20 registration begins at 9a, and the ride leaves at 11a. Enjoy food, music, raffles and more. All bikes and cars are welcome!
May 10th: DARE Ride
The Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club - VA XIII chapter presents the 2014 DARE Ride, Saturday, May 10th, at the Bartlett Yancey High School parking lot in Yanceyville, NC. Registration from 9-11, leaving at 11:30. $20 per bike, car, or truck, $10 per passenger. Lunch and 50/50 Raffle for all participants. Proceeds go to benefit the Caswell County D.A.R,E program
