May 30th: No Bling Circuit

The North Carolina Quarter Horse Association will have its No Bling Circuit held at the Piedmont Saddle Club at 801 Leaviurne Road in Colfax, NC. There will be two clinics, one at 8:45am and the other at 9:45am.This event is a sanctioned show that is designed for youth and amateur competitors prepare for participation at the larger AQHA (American Quarter Horse Association) Shows. June 12th: Zumbathon!

Get your Zumba on and help a great cause on Friday, June 12th from 6p - 8:30p at the Gateway YWCA in Winston Salem!  There will be professional Zumba instructors leading the event, plus vendors, prizes, and refreshments! YWCA Girls Inc Summer Camp

The Girls Inc. Summer Camp of Winston-Salem is back and better than ever!  The camp will run weekly starting Monday, June 15; ending Friday, August 21 from 7am-6pm.  The campers will arrive at the Gateway YWCA and be bused to and from the Children’s Home on Reynolda Rd where they have a fun-filled, inspirational day of spectacular activities.  Camp themes include: Girl Power, Girl Tech, and Girl Fabulous, just to name a few.  The cost per week is $175 for members/ $200 for potential members. Weekly fee includes girl power pack, breakfast, morning snack, lunch, and mid-afternoon snack.  Scholarships may be available upon request.  Camps are available to girls ages 7-12! June 15th: Quit Smart Smoking Cessation Program

Do you want to quit using tobacco?  Want to stop smoking or dipping? Tried to quit smoking before but always started again?   Isn’t it great to know that there is help, provided by the Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health? 
For four weeks, beginning on Monday, June 15, 2015, the Public Health Division will offer “QuitSmart,” an evidence-based, four-part tobacco use cessation class in Greensboro.
QuitSmart is taught in four sessions, 6:00 - 7:30 pm on Monday, June 15, 22, 29 and July 6.  Participants must be present on the first session, and will be quitting together by the third session on June 29.  Those who attend all four sessions will receive a certificate of completion.

July 11th: Sweetwater Gallery of Hops

The Carolina Ale House in Winston Salem invites artists and guests to attend the Sweetwater Gallery of Hops on Saturday, July 11th.  There will be live music and artwork on display from local artists.  This is a raw material event with artwork using raw beer materials such as dry hops, grains, barley and more.  Artists can showcase and sell their art, with a "Winston Salem Sweetwater Hop Artist" award and prizes going to a masterpiece.  For more information or to register, contact Kristen or Austin at 336-794-1311.  Proceeds from registration fees go to the Sweetwater Cleanwater Charity to support keeping the Yadkin River clean and clear. 

2015 Rabies Clinics Guilford County

North Carolina law requires that all domestic pets (cats, dogs and ferrets), whether living inside or outside, age four months or older be vaccinated.  Even animals that are confined in outdoor fenced areas should have current rabies vaccinations, because wild animals can get into these areas and attack your pets. 
Rabies continues to circulate within our wildlife population. The best way to protect your family and your pet’s safety is to vaccinate your pets against rabies.  Guilford County Animal Control is offering low-cost rabies vaccination clinics at the following locations and times:
