April 22th: Empty Bowls


The Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC's Empty Bowls luncheon will take place on April 22th from 11-2pm at The Millennium Center. A tasty soup lunch, gorgeous handcrafted andf painted pottery bowls and a fabulous silent auction will be available at the luncheon. The proceeds will go to special meal programs for children and critical nutritional supportfor our neighbors in need. April 25th: Piedmont Earth Day Fair


Experience the Power of Bright Ideas at the 10th Annual Piedmont Earth Day Fair. This free community event features interactive children’s activities, environmental demonstrations and live entertainment throughout the day. May 2nd: 5k Charity Color Run


The Northern Guilford High School Yearbook staff invites you to the 1st Annual Charity Color Run on Saturday, May 2nd, at NGHS.  Registration begins at 8am and runners start at 9:30am. Registration is $35 until April 22nd, $45 until May 1st, and $50 day of.  All runners get to choose the charity they'd like their proceeds to go to, and everyone gets a commemorative t-shirt.  Charities include the American Heart Assoc., Tristan's Quest, March of Dimes, ASPCA, Blues for Bobby, Wounded Warriors, and Childhelp.  For more information, click HERE

May 2nd: Make a Wish Kentucky Derby Classic


Make-A-Wish® Central & Western North Carolina would like to invite you to be a partner in our mission and attend the 2015 Kentucky Derby Classic to take place on Saturday, May 2 at the High Caliber Stables 8506 Cedar Hollow Road in Greensboro, NC. 

The afternoon encompasses all things Kentucky Derby with traditional Mint Juleps, beer/wine bar, food, a horse-show by the HCS Hotshots, a Hat Contest, “betting”, auctions, and of course a live feed of the Kentucky Derby as the excitement happens at Churchill Downs. 

Most importantly, the Kentucky Derby Classic is an afternoon of charitable giving to fund the mission of Make-A-Wish.

May 2nd: CVMA Veterans Benefit Ride


The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association will hold its annual benefit ride on Saturday, May 2nd.  Registration begins at 10am at Crossroads Harley Davidson of N. Wilkesboro. The ride will begin at 12 noon, and proceed to River City Bar & Grill at Lake Norman.  A silent and live auction will be held, as well as a 50/50 raffle, and live music from National Recording Artist Rockie Lynne.  All proceeds go to help veterans in need.  For more information click HERE  

May 16th: Dining For Friends Fundraising Opportunity


What do you love doing? Bowling, hiking, playing cards? Whatever it is, turn it into a Dining For Friends fundraiser!  Invite your friends to do what you already love to do, but with a purpose, to raise vital funds and awareness for HIV/AIDS for the Triad Health Project.  They'll even help you get started!  All fundraising parties are invited to attend the Dessert Finale on Saturday, May 16th at 8pm at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex Terrace with dancing and music by Sol Fusion.   For more information click HERE 

May 30th: No Bling Circuit


The North Carolina Quarter Horse Association will have its No Bling Circuit held at the Piedmont Saddle Club at 801 Leaviurne Road in Colfax, NC. There will be two clinics, one at 8:45am and the other at 9:45am.This event is a sanctioned show that is designed for youth and amateur competitors prepare for participation at the larger AQHA (American Quarter Horse Association) Shows. It is free admission and brerakfast, lunch, snacks, drinks and desserts will be provided at the event. For more information visit ncqha.com.

YWCA Girls Inc Summer Camp


The Girls Inc. Summer Camp of Winston-Salem is back and better than ever!  The camp will run weekly starting Monday, June 15; ending Friday, August 21 from 7am-6pm.  The campers will arrive at the Gateway YWCA and be bused to and from the Children’s Home on Reynolda Rd where they have a fun-filled, inspirational day of spectacular activities.  Camp themes include: Girl Power, Girl Tech, and Girl Fabulous, just to name a few.  The cost per week is $175 for members/ $200 for potential members. Weekly fee includes girl power pack, breakfast, morning snack, lunch, and mid-afternoon snack.  Scholarships may be available upon request.  Camps are available to girls ages 7-12! 2015 Rabies Clinics Guilford County


North Carolina law requires that all domestic pets (cats, dogs and ferrets), whether living inside or outside, age four months or older be vaccinated.  Even animals that are confined in outdoor fenced areas should have current rabies vaccinations, because wild animals can get into these areas and attack your pets. 
Rabies continues to circulate within our wildlife population. The best way to protect your family and your pet’s safety is to vaccinate your pets against rabies.  Guilford County Animal Control is offering low-cost rabies vaccination clinics at the following locations and times:
