Feb 28 - March 1: Harley show
The 21st annual All Harley Bike Show will be held on Saturday, February 28 - Sunday, March 1 at Holly Hill Mall in Burlington. Over 75 Harley-Davidson bikes will be on display, and spectators can vote for their favorite bike by giving a donation. All proceeds go to the Hospice and Pallative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell. February: Pints for Pounds
The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas (CBCC) is hosting its Sixth Annual ‘Pints for Pounds’ campaign through the end of February. For every blood donation made during that time, CBCC will donate seven pounds of food to Second Harvest Food Bank. Since the ‘Pints for Pounds’ campaign began in 2009, CBCC has been able to contribute 231,384 pounds of food to help feed the hungry in our community. For businesses, civic organizations and churches interested in hosting a blood drive with CBCC, call Kim Jones, director of sponsorship development, at 704-972-4727. In January Gerald Barber was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). In his particular case, his cancer is inoperable and terminal. March 28th: Osborne Sunshine for St. Baldrick's
Shave your head and help fight childhood cancer! The Osborne Sunshine event will be held on Saturday, March 28th from 1-3pm at 4125 Walker Avenue in Greensboro. Participants take pledges towards their goal, and if it is reached, they shave their head to show support for children fighting cancer. There will also be raffles and giveaways, and lots of family fun during the event. Proceeds go to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. For more information, click HERE
March: Shamrocks Against Dystrophy
Domino’s stores in the Triad area are teaming up to raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) as part of the Shamrocks Against Dystrophy campaign. Customers can contribute by purchasing a Shamrock to sign and display in the store from March 1, through March 31. Green Shamrocks are a $1 donation, gold Shamrocks are $5.
Domino’s stores in Greensboro have been raising dough to benefit Muscular Dystrophy Association for three years now, and in 2014, Domino’s stores in Greensboro raised more than $13,000 for MDA, thanks to the generous customers in the community.
MDA is a nonprofit health agency working to find a cure for muscular dystrophy by funding research, and providing services and support to patients and families nationwide.
May 2nd: CVMA Veterans Benefit Ride
The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association will hold its annual benefit ride on Saturday, May 2nd. Registration begins at 10am at Crossroads Harley Davidson of N. Wilkesboro. The ride will begin at 12 noon, and proceed to River City Bar & Grill at Lake Norman. A silent and live auction will be held, as well as a 50/50 raffle, and live music from National Recording Artist Rockie Lynne. All proceeds go to help veterans in need. 2015 Rabies Clinics Guilford County
North Carolina law requires that all domestic pets (cats, dogs and ferrets), whether living inside or outside, age four months or older be vaccinated. Even animals that are confined in outdoor fenced areas should have current rabies vaccinations, because wild animals can get into these areas and attack your pets.
Rabies continues to circulate within our wildlife population. The best way to protect your family and your pet’s safety is to vaccinate your pets against rabies. Guilford County Animal Control is offering low-cost rabies vaccination clinics at the following locations and times:
